The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna – Maritime Training Center Inc. was conceptualized and built in 2009 as part of the UPHSL capacity building measures to offer and provide quality maritime education and training programs to its trainees, seafarers, and aspiring seafarers in preparation for their shipboard deployment and employment.
With this vision for UPHSL-MTCI, the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Perpetual Help System, Dr./Sen. Antonio L. Tamayo AFP(Res), aptly said "We need to preserve our country's well-earned recognition as the leading capital of the world through sustained education, training, and deployment of seafarers to the global fleet."
Strategically located in Barangay Marinig, Cabuyao City, Laguna fronting the vast Laguna Lake, the UPHSL-MTCI which is some 50 kilometers from Manila has a total of approximately two (2) hectares of land and lakeshire area which houses the training center complete with initial facilities including totally-enclosed lifeboat, row rescue boat, fast rescue boat, open lifeboat, inflatable liferaft, administrative office, electricity office, first aid group ship, fire houses, fire pumps, swimming pool with diving platform, boat davits, air-conditioned classrooms, dormitories, clinic, canteen, library, store room, electrical room, man-made lagoon, and playground, among others.
